Accessibility Service
RequiredWhy: without it, Guardrail cannot detect sensitive data across other apps at all — the app runs, but does nothing.
Guardrail is installed straight from the Google Play Store — no settings changes needed to install it. The part people miss is turning on one permission afterward, without which Guardrail can't actually detect anything.
Android's Accessibility Service permission sounds like it's only for accessibility tools — but it's also the standard way any app is allowed to see across other apps. Without it turned on, Guardrail cannot detect anything at all, even though the app itself installed fine.
Search for "iDox.ai Guardrail" on Google Play, or use the link on our download page, and tap Install.
Once installed, open Guardrail from your app drawer or directly from the Play Store page.
Guardrail will prompt you to open Android's Accessibility settings. Find Guardrail in the list and toggle it on. Without this step, Guardrail cannot detect anything across other apps.
This lets Guardrail show its floating alert bubble. It's optional — without it, alerts show as notifications instead.
Used for the foreground service indicator and as a fallback alert when the floating bubble is off. Also optional, but recommended so you don't miss an alert.
One is required for Guardrail to function at all. The other two just improve how alerts are shown.

Why: shows Guardrail's floating alert bubble on top of whatever app you're using. Without it, you'll still get alerts — just as notifications instead of a bubble.
Why: powers the ongoing foreground-service notification and acts as the fallback alert when the floating bubble is turned off.
Guardrail does not request "Notification access" (the permission that lets an app read other apps' notifications). If a review or forum post mentions it, that's not part of Guardrail — you can safely ignore any prompt asking you to enable it for this app.
